Nothing is a dead cert against a cold-blooded killer…

1931. Frances Palmer is overjoyed when her brother Rob returns to Adelaide as a racecourse veterinarian. But all is not well on the turf, and when a man is murdered, there is only one suspect – Rob. Frances and her boyfriend, charming night club owner Jack Sullivan, along with ex-vaudevillian Uncle Sal and their friends have only one chance to unmask the real murderer, by infiltrating the racecourse. The odds are against them; luckily putting on a dazzling show where everything depends on sleight of hand is what they do best. But with time running out for Rob, the race is on…

WHAT THE READERS SAY

"I loved Ms Radtke's first Jack and Frances mystery, A Matter of Love and Death, and it's great to be back in their company! As ever the historical detail is spot on, and just enough to make us feel like we're really in 1930s Adelaide without being overwhelming. Plus there's just the right balance of romance and mystery. Jack is as dreamy as ever, Frances is strong and relatable, and I love Uncle Sal - I can really imagine him in my head as I'm reading! A really good, fun read, a cozy mystery that's perfect for historical fiction fans of Rhys Bowen, Elizabeth Peters and Kerry Greenwood. I can't wait for book 3!"

"Reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s Tuppence and Tommy stories and Gladys Mitchell's Mrs Bradley mysteries, this is a fabulous story.
Murder At The Races is set in post WW1 Australia in a world of nightclubs and race courses. Glamour contrasts with the hardships of the depression era. There’s love in the air and a wrongfully accused man in jail for murder. It’s a beautifully written cozy. I really felt I was in their world. I can’t wait for the next Frances and Jack mystery!"

"I could not wait to read the next adventure these 2 would stumble on... what a great story! We meet Jack and Frances again, and have the added pleasure of meeting her brother, Rob! Our joy in meeting him is quickly cut short as he is unjustly accused. Jack, Frances, and friends step up to find out who really did it. Our favorite characters are back and as lovable as before. I, personally, was also waiting to see if Jack and Frances would take the next steps in their romance. A great story all around, and I can't wait to see what's next for our heroes. Love this couple and this series!"
